VO42LF vs SV420XVT: 42″ Vizio Widescreen LCD HDTV

If you are looking at buying a 42″ Vizio widescreen LCD HDTV then you have to make a decisino between several models. For this article I have chosen two of the best selling Vizio 42″ televisions and put them side by side. You will see that the specs are almost the same besides in a few key areas and feature sets, with one having the whole Vizio she-bang and the other being a toned down version.

Specification Comparison
When comparing these two TV’s on paper, things look very similar. Both are full high definition models.

The main difference is that the SV420XVT comes with all the top of the line features from Vizio, whereas the V042LF is a TV with similar specs but without the bells and whistles (Although the price difference between the two is not huge. The main differences are:

The SV420XVT is part of Vizio’s XVT series (Extreme VIZIO technology) and marks their top of the line range. It includes 120Hz processing and SRS TruSurround XT Sound.

120Hz Processing
SV420XVT is a 120Hz processing model and this is the main difference between the two. 120Hz is the best processing speed currently and in combination with Vizio’s Smooth Motion Video technology you will get increased smoothness and fluidity in the picture. The detail is also much better.

SRS TruSurround XT
Also unique to the SV420XVT is SRS TruSurround XT which is a state of the art sound system.

Colors
V042LF: 16.77 million
SV420XVT: 1.06 Billion

Contrast Ratio
V042LF: 5000:1 (w/DCR)
SV420XVT: 6500:1 (w/DCR)

As you can see the V042LF is simply the cheaper version of the full featured SV420XVT. Both are excellent TV’s so your choice will depend upon your budget and your need for all the top features and latest technology.

Conclusion - Which Should You Choose?

The SV420XVT, whilst only costing a little more than the VO42LF, has all the bells and whistles of a top of the range Vizio TV therefore it gets my full recommendation.

The Vizio SV420XVT has continually come out on top in reviews and ratings and with good reason. It truly is an amazing TV and deserves the praise.

It only costs a bit more than the V042LF so I can highly recommend it as your next 42″ Vizio Widescreen LCD HDTV.

How to Choose a LCD TV and the Difference Between Full HD and HD Ready

I came across this handy article that explains the difference between HD Ready TV’s and Full HD TV’s - a common question amongst buyers.
When you’re done reading, check out this offer of a Free Vizio LCD 52″ HDTV

With so many LCD TV’s in the market place and a massive variety to choose from it can be confusing choosing the right LCD for you.

Here are a few tips that should help you make the right choice when choosing your LCD TV…

1). Find out what your budget is? And what picture quality you are willing to pay for

2). With so many models in the market offering different specifications the price can vary a lot. So be sure to figure out which room you are buying the LCD TV for. The general rule from house to house across the UK is that the best TV will be placed in the living room with smaller LCD TV’s or LCD TV’s with lower specs being used around the house.

3).Once you know what your budget is and where you will be placing the LCD TV its time to have a look at the specifications along with the design and style. The main features to look for in a LCD TV are the picture quality and connectivity. You will get LCD TV’s that come HD ready and also come with Full HD. The difference between the two is the amount of pixels that are available. So you might have heard of the term 1080p and 720p.

Difference between Full HD and HD ready

The truth in the matter is that a 1080p LCD TV will give you the highest picture quality there is, however in order to get this picture quality that true HD 1080p can offer, you will need to have the right equipment that can support it. So what is this equipment that i talk about? To be honest there isn’t a lot of equipment out there that supports 1080p and when talking about screen resolution the average consumer doesn’t have the slightest idea what this means to them.

The difference between HD and full HD is barely noticeable to the average eye, if you ask me they both produce excellent quality images.

To benefit from full HD you will need these 3 things

• HD Plasma or LCD

• Correct leads (HDMI-component video)

• HD Source ( HDTV Tuner, HD Satellite, HD Cable Box, Blu-Ray, HD DVD Player)

The decision is with you, Full HD or HD ready?

Connections/connectivity

The connectivity that LCD’s provide are also very important. LCD’s support many connections which will allow you to connect all of your equipment to your TV. Connectivity includes HDMI sockets, scart lead sockets, component video and many more. Please keep a look out for an up and coming article about connections and connectivity.

4). In general the majority of LCD TV’s provide more then enough functions and the average consumer will find that the majority of the specifications will never get used. However if you have much equipment that will need connecting to the LCD then go for one that provides many ways of connecting devices up. Normally found under the connectivity section of the LCD details.

The LCD TV’s that are available at Ravs Appliances all offer HD ready, integrated freeview and digital ready functions with more then enough connectivity to support basic to advanced configurements. Full HD ready models are also available and are noted under the specification sections.

The Vizio 32″ LCD TV VO32L is part of the acclaimed Evolution Series from Vizio. This review will point out not only the good, but also a few less than desirable elements of this 1080i High Definition TV. I will let you know whether they are worth overlooking on favor of the benefits.

Highlights of the VO32L
There have been some great improvements with this TV over past models. The Vizio 32″ LCD TV VO32L is a step above the VW series which is the entry level series from Vizio. The VO32L has better specifications plus extra features. Some of the main improvements and features include:

1. Improved Contrast Ratio
The backlight now uses a dynamic system therefore the contrast ratio has been increased (the older VW series of TV’s used a static backlight). The contrast ratio is rated at 1100:1 or 5500:1 with DCR.

Vizio GV47LF Gallevia 47″ LCD HDTV Review

The Vizio GV47LF is a 47″ 1080p (full high definition) LCD HDTV. It is also known as the Gallevia.

This particular model is a high end TV with a price tag of around $2000. Vizio tend to give fancy names to their top of the range televisions and ‘Gallevia’ gives you an exotic and classy feeling. It almost sounds like the name of a Ferrari. Which is exactly how I would describe the GV47LF - the Ferrari of 47″ HDTV’s.

Consumers often compare several models and have a hard time deciding which to buy, so I’m going to make things easier for you if you are stuck between the Sharp and the Vizio 37″ TV’s.
